One of the most common requests I get from new women coming into the gym is that they want to get “TONED”
While it might be easy to think of “toning” as something specific to the way that you train or how you eat, it’s actually much simpler than that.
You see, to get the “toned” look most women are looking for it comes down to two things:
1. Losing bodyfat.
We do this through a sound nutrition program focusing on quality protein intake, replacing highly processed carbohydrates with more fruits and vegetables. And cutting back on the alcohol.
2. And this is the one we always want to skip… BUILD MUSCLE!
I understand that might sound intimidating but let me put it in perspective. Even with really hard training and perfect nutrition, the most elite competitors still only put on a few pounds of muscle in a year. We’re talking about 1-2 pounds of muscle spread out over your entire body. This is done with good full body strength training done consistently with great technique and progressively heavier weights.
